Atkins Diet Shopping TipsPlan Before You Go

When you start the Atkins diet, you are entering a new world of eating. And nowhere is that more apparent than at the supermarket. Suddenly, all of your stand-by foods like macaroni and cheese, pasta and bread are no longer on your shopping list. When you go shopping for the first few times you may feel like a fish out of water. However, with a bit of practice you’ll feel just as comfortable as you were with your previous shopping lists.

Successful Atkins shopping starts before you reach the store. There are many resources for shopping lists online and in Atkins books. Before you head for the store, make a list of the week’s recipes and then decide what you’ll need to make each meal. Make sure to purchase low-carb snacks for in between meals.

Also, plan for modifications to the meals for other people in your home. You won’t be able to make totally different meals for yourself and your family for the long term. The best approach is to use the main meat dish for your meal for the entire family and then a carbohydrate side dish for your family. For example, if you are eating meatloaf you can add half a potato for the other members of your family.

Once you’ve made your meal plan for the week, its time to hit the store. When you arrive, buy your protein items and produce first. This may sound very simple and like it won’t make much difference, but it will. Once you’ve filled your cart with all of the acceptable foods, there won’t be room for much more.

Consider buying your meat in bulk. This will save you lots of money if you know where to get family sized packages of meat. When you buy meat in large quantities, you can also cook it in bulk as well. Taking time a few days per week to cook meat makes it simple to follow the Atkins plan. You can cook your meat before hand and have it ready to go when you need it. You can purchase ground beef, chicken pieces, small steaks and even seafood in bulk.

Cheese, if you can tolerate it, can also be purchased in bulk. Many stores offer store-brand cheese in large bricks. You’ll need to make sure to read the labels before you purchase any cheese. Make sure that when you eat cheese to eat some fiber (salad or raw veggies) as well. Having large blocks of your favorite cheeses on hand can make it easy to grab a quick snack between meals.

As you walk around the store, stick to the outer edges. The outer aisles have the freshest food. Think about your neighborhood grocery store. Most often the deli, the meat counter and the produce section are all along the sides of the store with the packaged items in the aisles. This is especially important if you are in the initial phases of the Atkins diet. You’ll want to stay away from all packaged foods during induction, even if they are low carb packaged foods. Once you add more carbohydrate grams to your daily limit, you can start to experiment with low-carb packaged foods.

That leads to the next important tip, read the labels! Just because an item says it is low carb, it may have hidden sugars. Do your investigative work at the grocery store so you won’t get home with products that cause you to gain weight.

Shopping for the Atkins diet will take some time to get used to. You’ll be navigating parts of the grocery store that you may not be familiar with. You’ll also be purchasing items you’ve never cooked before. However, with planning and dedication low carb shopping will become easier. Just remember to make a list before you visit the store and stay toward the outer aisles of the grocery store. In no time, you’ll be an experienced low carb shopper.

Simple Diet Tips For Healthy Weight Loss

Almost everyone who goes on drastic diets ends up going off the diet sooner rather than later. And even if you do lose some weight with crash and fad diets, you quickly regain that weight back again the moment you get off the diet. The key to losing weight lies in healthy weight loss, where the weight you lose stays off for good, and where your weight loss tactics are not severe enough for you to chuck them at the first given opportunity. Healthy weight loss involves simple diet and lifestyle changes.

Some tips that will help you lose weight for good, whether you are on a weight loss plan or not are:

Set Attainable Goals: The first thing that you need to do when you plan to lose weight is to set attainable goals. Very fast weight loss will not only take its toll on your health, but is generally temporary. So instead of planning to lose 30 pounds, plan to lose 6 pounds a month. This way, you will keep getting an incentive to lose weight with every pound that you shed instead of getting discouraged by the fact that you still have 29 pounds more to go.

Eat Slowly And Patiently: Most diets involve some kind of portion control, but if you are used to eating more, you will keep on feeling empty even after having your meals. Your brain gets to know that your stomach is full only after 20 minutes of eating. So in order to avoid over eating, eat slowly. Chew each bite at least 20 to 30 times and do not eat in front of the television. By following this simple diet tip, you will start feeling satisfied even with smaller portions.

Dont Get All Emotional With Food: A large number of over weight people cannot control their eating because they use it as a means of emoting. If you are one of those people who pick up a chocolate, dessert or a pack of wafers every time you feel angry, lonely, sad, happy or just plain bored, then you need to control this consciously. When you feel hungry out of turn, drink a glass of water and indulge in an activity that has nothing to do with eating. Go for a walk, chat with your neighbour, call up your friends, watch television or clean up your room. By the time you finish, you will have forgotten about your hunger pangs.

Do Not Starve Yourself: Most popular diet programs nowadays will advise you to have at least 5 to 8 meals a day, which is a good thing not just because it boosts your metabolism, but because it also keeps you feeling full and energetic. Most self help dieters still believe that starving will help them lose weight, when all it does is exactly the opposite the moment you get back to regular life. Each and every sensible diet guide will advise you to eat more meals for weight loss, as this is the new secret to fast, healthy weight loss.

How Can I Loose Weight and Keep it Off? There is Only One Way and I Have the Answer!

Hi, I have been someone who has struggled with my weight my entire life. I am 40 years old now and it is harder then ever to get fit. In High school I was a wrestler, football player, and baseball player. I knew how to work out, however even then I could not control my weight. As I got older the worst it got. By the time I got to 30 I knew I had to do something about it. I went on a very strict diet with no carbs and boy did I loose weight. I thought I found the answer to my prayers. But like anything else I fell off the diet and boy did I pack on the pounds, as a matter of fact I lost 45 pounds during the diet and gained 75 pounds after I fell off the diet. By this time in my life I was 38 years old and was starting to notice health issues because of my weight gain. I stood up and said that this was it I am going to be dead soon if I do not get control now. So I started doing some internet investigating and fit tv investigating and found that if you exercise and eat a well rounded diet you will succeed. The first thing I realized is that if you want to loose weight to live you need to watch what you eat. Now I know everyone says I don’t want to count calories, fat, sodium, cholesterol and so on, but you know what no one wants to be obese either. The first thing you should always do is look at what you eat everyday and that is what you are going to be looking like. If you eat French fries, mayonnaise, greasy foods your going to be a greasy looking french fry. Also find the foods that you like as well. If you like oranges eat oranges.

This brings me to the next topic exercise. This word is the hardest action for everyone to do. This word literally makes people give up before they start. I learned long ago in my youth how to work out, but things are different now and I need to do this on my own. For me I started exercising and stretching routines at least 4 times a week. At first I was stiff and sore but I worked through it. Plus you start feeling an unbelievable feeling of strength and flexibility that I had not even felt in my youth. I eventually got to the point of everyday, taking a day off here and there. The bottom line is you need to do it for yourself and find a program that works for you. You have to exercise your mind as well. You have to have the will to do it or you will be struggling with weight for the rest of your life.

To summarize: First I would learn how to control my eating and learn to eat the foods that are healthy for my body and soul. Second I would find the exercise program that I enjoy doing and will not quit. If you just do these two things I promise you will be the new you that you have been wanting forever.
