There are very few people who do not like watching the natural movements of the ocean. It is a vista which is always moving and ever changing, presenting to the viewer an amazing cacophony of colors. Blues, greens, turquoise and grey all mix and blend together in this wonderful body of endless and seamless motion. Sometimes that water shines and sparkles and almost seems to dance before your eyes. It is brilliant, amazing and awe inspiring.

The sights and sounds of the ocean can stir up a lot of different emotions. It can induce a sensation of peace and tranquility sometimes and yet equally the ocean has the power to uncover sensations of restlessness and fury. The water moves and changes and presents many different faces to us, some of which may be sensual and others which may be daunting or forbidding. The ocean could be seen as a prison by some or a delicious freedom by others. But to some people, water induces a huge and instinctive sensation of fear and anxiety.

Water simply doesn’t stay still and static. If you have ever watched a droplet of water as it balances upon a leaf you will know that eventually it will cause the leaf to bend beneath its weight. It’s on the move, again. This perhaps is one reason which underlies a fear of water or fear of swimming; water just doesn’t stay still. In this sense it is unpredictable. Another reason perhaps is the all enveloping power of a body of water; it can seem so strong and make a human being by contrast feel weak and vulnerable. Some people have simply had a bad experience in water, or their fear may be less about the water and more about sinking or being unable to breathe.

Swimming pools of course are no way near as daunting as a natural and unpredictable expanse of ocean. You know exactly where the bottom lies and what it is made of; you can even see all of the way to the bottom. You can touch the bottom with you feet, whilst keeping your head above the surface. You also know that the human body has a natural tendency to float. But all of this does little to sooth the emotions which instinctively surface in the person who is afraid of water or afraid of swimming. We all know that we should have a healthy respect for water, but we equally know that there is no need to be fearful of water in a swimming pool. There are no rough waves or dangerous currents and no surprising changes of depth.

This type of fear anxiety is therefore known to be illogical and also extremely annoying and frustrating. Something, somewhere in the back of your mind must be creating this “miss-cue” of emotional response. Hypnosis is very handy in helping one to overcome their fear of water and to gain swimming confidence as it provides access to the inner workings of the mind. A little bit of rewiring, with the help of hypnosis, and you will find that more comfortable emotions will be triggered and your fear of swimming will be overcome.

With an increasing number of vehicles traversing the highways of the world a higher degree of driving confidence is required to enable one to step out of their usual comfort zone. To drive on an unfamiliar road can be very daunting to many a driver. Roads and road systems can be very different from one side of a town to another let alone between different countries or continents.

I am very aware of this reality as I regularly drive in both the UK and California. Driving in the UK varies a lot. On the Isle of Man, roads are generally small and relatively free of traffic; there are no caravans and few articulated vehicles. But, and this is a big BUT, there are a lot of tiny roundabouts; the ones I mean are those that are denoted simply by a white circle painted on the tarmac. I know many a visitor whose driving confidence has completely escaped them when faced with one of these little roundabouts which we locals find far less daunting.

In the UK in general there is also no intuitive aspect to road directions, in contrast with many American roads which run upon a grid system. Whereas roundabouts can be the nemesis to some, four way junctions, seven lane highways or carpool lanes can present a few surprises to a person who is visiting and driving in California. Confidence comes from feeling comfortable and familiar with something. Driving confidence is certainly challenged when presented with these types of unfamiliar situations.

There are challenges to be met in any new road system and driving confidence is required if you want to get from A to B safely. Whether you are going from an area where you are used to heavy traffic and high speed to a more rural area or vice versa, there will always be differences. And then there is also the potential ultimate difference in that you may be required to drive on the other side of the road. Driving is challenging and driving confidence can often diminish, particularly when faced with an unfamiliar environment.

There are many things which you can do to help yourself and prepare for driving abroad. First, you can find out about the local rules. In this way you will know what otherwise unfamiliar signs mean, or how you are meant to deal with four way junctions or roundabouts and so on. If you know that you know how you should respond you will have far greater driving confidence. Second, before you drive anywhere, familiarize yourself with your directions; don’t just set out and hope to see a signpost. Have a good look at the map, and better still key in your destination to an automated navigation system. In this way you won’t have to think about signs or directions and all of your attention can be focused upon the task in hand – that of driving with confidence, in accordance with the local rules on the correct side of the road.

If you haven’t had much driving practice then the very act of driving can be fear inducing in itself. In this case hypnosis can be very helpful in accessing your subconscious mind and mentally rehearsing driving and creating a positive emotional attachment to those rehearsals. With this type of mental rehearsal, each session of visualization is recorded by your brain as if it were a real experience, thereby building driving confidence again and again. With the help of a hypnosis download you can easily learn to use hypnosis and train yourself to have complete driving confidence.

You Can Overcome Fear of Rejection

Dating can be a daunting pastime. For some it is a wonderful game, full of interest and intrigue, whilst for others is an embarrassing and awkward nightmare. You start asking yourself what on earth you are going to say, whether to try a new chat up line or to talk about the weather and questioning how you look or what you should wear and how to get past go in this dating arena.

The fear of making a fool of yourself, or being embarrassed or openly rebuffed can sometimes be enough to make you turn tail and retreat at a rapid pace. It is this anticipatory anxiety which causes all of the issues as opposed to what actually happens when in the dating situation.

We all, I believe, know that not everyone we are attracted to will be attracted to us in return. We also know that the timing may be wrong; that other person may already be in a relationship and therefore not free to respond to your approaches. This does not mean that you are being rejected; it is simply that the timing isn’t right. But the person who is afraid of being rejected will tend to believe that this is what has happened; the tendency is to judge what happens from one’s own perspective instead of taking a step back and viewing it from a different angle.

We tend to see what we expect to see. If you are afraid of rejection you will expect it and see it even when it’s not really there. But once you overcome fear of rejection, you see things from a different perspective; you recognize that you are attractive and desirable to others, and no longer interpret circumstances as a pattern of rejection. Dating should be fun; it should be interesting, exciting and easy.

Once you overcome fear of rejection you see your situation with the eyes of curiosity and positive anticipation. You look forward to seeing who you might meet, to finding out more about them and ascertaining what you have in common. You enjoy meeting new people, both as friends and as potential material for a more serious relationship. Either way, it’s fun. Even when you meet people who you do not have anything much in common with, you can, when you are no longer afraid of rejection, enjoy the fact that you are all unique and individual; you can enjoy each other’s differences.

To overcome fear of rejection you have to learn to step back and to see things from a different angle. You have to learn to change your inner expectations. Hypnosis is extremely useful in executing this task as hypnosis provides access to the inner workings of your mind. With hypnosis you can build you confidence and feel completely at ease when flirting with potential play mates.
