Anxiety Body Position and TMJ

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ, is a disorder relating to the joint that connects the jaw to the skull. It often leads to dysfunction in the movements and position of the jaw, which worsens over time if not treated. It is said that over 11 million americans may have TMJ at any given time.

Discomfort and pain in the neck and jaw are often felt my TMJ sufferers. Migraines and Fibromyalgia may even develop over time.

Specialists have said that TMJ is caused by consistent movement of the jaw beyond its average limits, such as forward or sideways, which may in turn be caused by extreme gum chewing, nail biting, dental neglect, or trauma (accident).

Yet many other individuals suffer from TMJ despite steering clear of all its known causes. Is this due to a new, exciting, previously-unknown cause, one that would mark a colossal new way of looking at TMJ?

Well, yes and no. Yes because only a few people know about these new causes, and no, because in the first place, these are what really causes TMJ, so they shouldn’t surprise you.

The first cause is anxiety.

You’ve probably experienced it before – when you’re scared, apprehensive, or anxious, you tend to stiffen up. Your muscles tense up, you tremble, your jaw is set rock-hard. What happens when you experience anxiety on a regular basis?

Think of the occasional aches and pains that seem to come out of nowhere. Did it ever boggle you that there never seems to be a physical cause for these pains?

Well, the reason is clear now. When you automatically set your jaw everytime you have stress, it may ultimately add up to a TMJ problem.

Wrong body position is the other cause.

Our parents have often told us to sit up and walk straight when we were kids. You probably did not listen if you are suffering from back problems now.

The same goes for TMJ. Sitting the wrong way (or too much) causes our jaw to have the wrong position – it may be too far in or far out.

When you see women in developing countries carry heavy loads directly on top of their heads in one of the Discovery Channel programs, aren’t you amazed that they can carry these loads and not suffer from any shoulder, neck, and jaw problems?

The simple reason is because they carry the loads directly over their heads. This makes the muscles in their neck and shoulders sustain the weight the way they are naturally designed to do.

The moment they tip their heads forward, the weight would suddenly cause them to tip forward and lose their balance.

Do you see the relationship?

When your head is straight over the body, it is not heavy. But when you lean forward, it makes it heavier. Your neck and shoulder muscles are not designed to carry the extra load, so your jaw helps out to keep the head level.

When this continues, the extra strain results in a TMJ disorder.

Most of the time, doctors give painkillers to reduce the pain of TMJ, but these do not work in the long term. These medication only give temporary relief, but do not solve the root causes of TMJ.

My TMJ No More program does just that. With simple exercises that relax the muscles around the TMJ and restore the jaw’s natural position, it addresses TMJ at its source, effectively ending the misery caused by this disorder.

Does it work? Evidently, as hundreds of my customers who have tried it themselves have said so. Check it out and see what brought the smiles back on their faces.

Warm Regards,

Christian Goodman

Alternatives How To Succeed

Alternative medicine may be defined as “any form of healing procedure that is not classified as that of conventional medicine.” The following represent a selection of methods that would normally be classified as alternative medicine:

Naturopathy. It emphasises the body’s inbuilt ability to heal and maintain itself. Such practice focuses on a holistic, which views physical and mental aspects of life as closely interconnected, approach to patient care, and may recommend patients use conventional medicine alongside their alternative treatments.

Chiropractice. It relates to body parts that are linked to movement. Manipulation of spinal and other joint and soft tissues areas is achieved using extensive massage techniques. It may also include exercises together with health and lifestyle counseling.

Herbalism. It is known by alternative names, such as botanical medicine and herbal medicine. It relies on the extensive use of plants and plant extracts. Use is sometimes made of various fungi and even the products of the humble bee, as well as minerals, shells and certain animal parts.

Traditional Chinese Medicine. Herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary therapy are the ingredients of this application. Ayurveda is the oldest of the six recognized systems of medicine used in India. It is used by countless people in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It is widely considered to be the oldest system of medicine known today.

Meditation. This eastern technique has been adapted and increasingly practiced in the west, and generates an achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.

Yoga. It refers to those practices, originating in India, which generate a feeling of well being and at peace with the world.

Biofeedback. It involves analysing the efficiency of certain organs in the body and relaying this information to the patient. Typically, measurements are taken of blood pressure, heart rate, skin temperature, activity of the sweat glands, and muscle tension. This will raise the patient’s awareness of how well, or otherwise, these vital functions are performing.

Hypnosis. When placed in a hypnotic state, this may also help certain desired changes in the body. As a result, it has been successfully used as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, and as an alternative to traditional anesthetics. In certain procedures, it can act as a means of pacifying some skin ailments.

Body-works. It is a term to describe a wider understanding of the body brought about by actual physical contact. This may involve some form of energetic activity or a massage of the body or indeed any form of healing process.

Homeopathy. It has been suggested that a person with an illness can be treated in such a way that the remedies produce, in others, similar symptoms. The process involves diluting the remedy each time it is taken, until a point is reached when it is indistinguishable from pure water. At each dilution, the toxic effects are removed.

Remedies And Medicine For Those Pesty Insect Bites

Most insect bites are just annoyances that itch like crazy and leave ugly little welts that go away in a few days. However, flies and mosquitoes can spread disease. The first thing you want to do is wash the bite area thoroughly with soap and water and apply an antiseptic.

In the first place, you should try avoiding a bite by using repellents. Remember – the hotter it is the more active flies and mosquito’s are. Mosquito’s are at their worst in damp areas like ponds and marshes, and are attracted to outdoor lightings after dark.

Here are some recommended remedies that may help to repel those pesty flies and mosquito’s.

- Mix 2 capfuls of chlorine bleach in a tub of warm water. Soak in it for 15 minutes. Do not get the solution near or in the eyes. The repellent effect should last for several hours.

- The bath oils “Alpha-Keri” and Avon’s “Skin-So-Soft” are known to have a repellent effect.

- The sun screen “PreSun” is also known to repel insects.

- Some people claim to have had great success with the strong smelling ointment “Vicks VapoRub” as an insect repellent. It contains camphor. Its herbal pungent fumes are known to ward off bugs.

- While bees love balm, mosquito’s hate it. You might want to try rubbing on some balm oil, or rub this herbs scented leaves over your skin.

- It has been known that some of the compounds found in herbal lavender oil repels insects.

- Pennyroyal oil helps to repel flies, gnats, mosquito’s, fleas and ticks. It is the ingredient found in most natural insect repellents.

- Some people swear that taking thiamin supplements (a B vitamin) repels mosquito’s. The theory is that the vitamin releases an odor in your sweat.

- Daily doses of a zinc supplement (at least 60 milligrams) is recommended as a natural repellent. However, it takes about a month to build up enough zinc in your system to discourage insects. Take zinc supplements only with approval from your doctor.

Fly and mosquito bites may produce intense itching and swelling that can last for up to 4 days. Here are some recommended natural remedies and medicines that may help to relieve the itching and inflammation.

- An unusual treatment to help control inflammation is to moisten your skin and rub an aspirin tablet right over the bite. Do this as soon as possible after being bitten. (**If you are allergic or sensitive to aspirin do not use this remedy.)

- Take an oral antihistamine. An over the counter allergy or cold medicine.

- Apply calamine lotion.

- Apply ice packs.

- With a little water, moisten salt or meat tenderizer, just enough to make a paste and apply it to the bite.

- Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Dip a cloth into the solution and place on bite for 15 to 20 minutes.

- Dissolve 1 tablespoon of epsom salts in a quart of hot water. Chill. Dip a cloth into the solution and place on bite for 15 to 20 minutes.

Hope these natural remedies and medicine tips provides you with some RELIEF.
